Can't wait - and will return with a trip report and loads of photos, of course.

If there is anything you particularly want photographed, do let me know and I'll do my best to cover it while there (I'm a pro photog, in my other life) :) List it here - I'll consult this thread again before I go in July.

There's a number of machines I specifically want to play and drool on - ALL the EM's - what a nice collection.

and then NUGENT, Sharpshooter from Game Plan, Meteor (which I just love playing), Vegas (of course!!), and Street Fighter II (just curious) from the S/S lot... oh, and a few good long games of SafeCracker (to see if I can really figure this thing out)

Guys
Just visited the museum. Well worth the trip. Played heaps especially things you don't see often. Met the owner who advised that they were going to move as soon as his Building permit is thru. New place closer to the strip bigger and more machines. On a sadder note the Sharpshooter from Gameplan had a broken MPU so I missed out on one of the machines I really wanted to play. Did get the high score of the day on Circus Voltaire, first time playing it, very enjoyable pinball machine

Went there a few years ago with my son who loved the old shooters and we met Tim who is an interesting individual...

The way the photos were shot was to capture the natural lighting coming from the machines which is warm and surreal.

This was one of my trip highlights and highly recommend anyone to check it out. Just hope on the next visit that the new joint will be set up.

Warning... very large images.

Just been in touch with Raphael from the French Pinball Museum and am trying to sync our schedules so that we are in Paris at the same time. This place would have to be the most insane collection of premium, well maintained antique European/US pins and paraphenalia in the world, surely?

http://www.pinball-museum.net/musee/grandes/1.jpg

to see the lot, just substitute 'www.pinball-museum.net/musee/grandes/1.jpg' for '2.jpg', '3.jpg', etc (up to 30 I think) in your browser address line ...

Or type in : http://www.pinball-museum.net/musee/musee.php and see everything....

Visited the PHoF in April. The place is amazing and even more amazing is the story behind it all. You can download a podcast of the Pinball Radio chat with Tim Arnold, do this before you go an listen to it on the plane. The bus down Tropicana is the easiest & cheapest way to go. Just walk up/down the strip to the Tropicana Casino and wait for the bus. Forget the cabs. The details are on the Tim Arnold website. Also there is a great Mexican place across the road where we got a fantastic feed and friendly people, gives you a taste of Vegas off the strip. If guns are your thing (not every ones cup of tea and I was pressed for time) there is a place called, I think The Gun Shop on the way. You pay your bucks and choose from a huge array of weapons get the ammo and go nuts! There is change machines in the Hall of Fame to get your quarters and they also have a small range of parts and the Shaggy this ol' pinball dvds for sale there. Las Vegas is off the planet you're going to love it. Screwed stewed and tattooed in Vegas.. I loved it. (Love the first question on the tattoo consent form, it's 12.30am Q1 Have you been drinking. What do you reckon???) *Make sure you go to the Grand Canyon while you're there*
If you get to San Fransisco there is a EM museum on the piers with some really old stuff that you won't see again and it's also free to get in quarters to play.
Are we the only nuts who plan an international trip around playing pinball?
Have fun and take care

Thanks so much for the tip - we are indeed in San Fran and I'll be at the pier with much interest!! :)

Are we the only nuts? One of the few, that's for sure ;) We are there for a wedding, so thought we'd do as much sightseeing locally in each place we visit while there (rather than trips outside the cities), so settling in to play pinball/pachinko makes perfect sense to me and the missus. ;) Our trip is MEL-SYD-San Fran-Vegas-San Fran-New York-Paris-Tokyo-Syd-Mel, and so with 9 flights in just 18 days, we need to stay local and *involved*.

I can't think of a better way!!! :038:
