Hi. I have a couple of questions regarding the game cube. I bought one at Supanova a few years back for $50, back when the wii had just come out. I used it a little but without a mem card i couldnt do much. Searched a little bit but could never find a mem card. Few months later got my own computer and forgot about it. However, recently i found it again and was wondering a few things.

First off, is it possible to hook a game cube up to a hdd so that i dont have to burn discs at all.

Secondly, i cant remeber the exact size of the game cube, but, if i cant boot off a hdd and need to use dvds, can i simply try and expand the casing for the game cube or do i need to keep the top off/get a case designed to handle normal discs.

Thirdly, whats a good modchip for the game cube.

I can only answer one of your questions as I'm in the market for my first GameCube myself... but the original GC's (chipped or not) wont fit a DVD, but there *ARE* ready-made replacement cases so that you can fit a full size DVD backup in there (once chipped).

yea, i know the original gc casing wont fit a dvd, but i wasnt sure if say, you could cut into the case and make a new top half by modifying the original top half and just making the extended part with some sort of fiberglass or something similair if you get what i mean.

I have just found 2 brand new replacement gamecube cases made by viper to accept standard size dvd disc , cost me $30 each there is one clear one an one purple one never used them

saves the agro of cutting up your cube an the hassle of having no cover

PM if you want a picture i'll dig out camera

also thing there are some GC games about 30 maybe i'll chuck them in also

$10 each case + postage (doubt it would be more than $5

I'll take the other one?

Edit: To be fair this is opm881's thread so he should have first choice, but if he doesn't want it I'd like one? Also interested in GC games, especially if there's any Resident Evil, Picmin, or Mario (anything) in there?

I've been chasing one of these case mods for ages, The cub just doesnt get used and those mini DVD's are a pain in the arse.

You can buy the small DVD's for the cube if you you don't want to mod your cube. Burn in a regular DVD burner
I have the Qoob modchip in mine works great (from memory was one of the best). Was quite easy to install as well.

Never heard of a HDD mod for the cube.

yeah I have the Qoob installed too, the mini DVD's are just expensive and some brands I found just didnt work. The case mod is a great idea.

Damn, I checked that other thread and followed the link to acegamestore, but they don't sell Qoob chips anymore (or the viper cases).

Does anybody know where to get Qoob chips these days?

Side note: http://www.acegamestore.com/products/xbox/ DuoX3 xbox modchips for $20 with free shipping. Damn!

Can I still my hand up for some games then?

If anyone else has one of those aftermarket GC cases to allow full size DVDs (or knows where they can still be bought for a similar price) please let me know!

Yeah, I'll supply and install a XenoGC for $40 for AA members (usually $50). No stock of Gamecube cases as there isn't much demand.

I think I have an invite left to Ntorrents, but you really have to keep your ratio up otherwise <ban> requests for games can be filled, they really don't like leechers there. actually promised one to someone else here so if they pipe up first they can have it, forgot who it was:unsure

I'm also looking at picking up a cheap GC. So you can fit a regular size hard drive and boot off that? Will that allow you to play all the games backed up off a HDD? Anyone got any more info on how this can be done? Cheers.

it appears you cant use a hdd. There was a group making an adaptor but they never released it, unfortunatly. You can however get a special mem card which uses a micro sd card and u can boot backups off that
