Ive been offered to buy a jukebox what I believe to be a rockola 481 (searched pics on the net) in working order with records for $800 ,I no zilch about these things but I thought it might compliment my gamesroom as I have a few 70s pinball machines. Would it be worth forking out the $800 or not . Cheers Les.:unsure

I think jukes look great but for less money you can make a PC based cab which will sound better, and give you the option of thousands of songs as apposed to 1 or 200 from an old juke.

But thats just me, YMMV

I have no idea what they're worth. I personally wouldn't pay $800.00 but then it might be worth a lot more :unsure

Check these pages out:

And if you do buy it I'd buy this too =)

hi pinfrog
i have an r-85 rowe ami which has cost me all up around $2000. I think its the best piece of equipment out of my whole collection. If your into that old record sound & love old music, i would pay $800 for it, bare in mind though make sure its working properly if not it can very costly and difficult to find parts. My machine cost me $1600 before i had to buy & repair preamps, needles etc. I thought i had overpaid but looking at ebay & what they go for im not so sure. I was offered $2200 for mine from my uncle but declined his offer. I hope this answers some questions.
daniel.

by the way, they do weigh a tonne, so you dont want to be moving them very often.

hey mate

i got a 463 77 model

i paid 1200 with arcade cabinets (all working) came with 153 records

they compliment a games room nice.

800 seems a good price and if you dont want it im sure you could make your $$ back easy enough.

and you will be surprised at the sound quality too.

and yes rockola is farking heavy

took 4 guys to lift mine on the ute

Knowing absolutely nothing about jukeboxes i'd say for $800 if it is in working order, grab it.

You couldn't build a MP3 jukebox for less than that, so even if it's completely stuffed you could pull it apart and hook in an ipod or even a PC to play MP3's. And you'd have a pretty cool bit of gear.

just remembered my old mate mention back when they sited these also had the mechanisms swapped to CD to keep up with the times.

so being a record still is a good find
