Has anyone ever come across this hack of Donkey Kong?

It includes this new level called "The Foundry".

For those wishing to try here is a small MAME binary for it: http://www.mameworld.net/mrdo/dkfoundry/mamedk.rar

And then you just need to download DKONGEX.ZIP, which can be found here: http://www.usenet-replayer.com/cgi/content/archive

You can also read more about it here: http://www.mameworld.net/mrdo/dkfoundry/index.html

Here's a bit of an update on this Donkey Kong hack.

Pictures of Refinery & Mixer levels.

The other new level is called the Crane level, unfortunately no pictures yet. :(

Jeff has also added intermissions which look pretty cool. :D

This page has video of some of the levels and some of the intermissions: http://www.hyperspacearcade.com/OnSite3.html

I stumbled across this hack yesterday and thought the same.
I don't suppose it would work on a Crazy Kong PCB being a bootleg :unsure
How much do Donkey Kong PCB's go for here?

The new levels look a lot harder :o

i thought the issue with ninty DK pcb's is that they have inverted RGB which makes them a pain, hence the popularity of the bootlegs?

Yep

This one "Incinerator"

From here
http://www.arcadeshop.com/multi-pcb/dk2/dk2.htm

It's not added to the multi board, it's a satellite board for an original DK Board

I played this a few times in MAME a while ago, but I never finished the 'mixer' or 'incinerator' levels, I sort of got the hang of the other two after a few attempts.

Didn't even know this was available! What would I be looking for if I wanted to get this rom set for Mame?

Not really available in MAME
It's a plug in board, into the cpu slot

I guess a whizz could work out a way

The file inside the zip is
d2k12.bin

Any idea how to make it work, do we just add it to dkong.zip?

Mine doesn't work

Good question Dez. I got the file from Rat, and it took a bit of playing around to get it to work. It was 6 months ago and i cant remember what i did to get it running? In my rom directory it is a separate file than the dkong.zip. It wouldn't work on a few versions of MAME either. Id say shoot Rat a pm and he can talk you through it.

Looks like it only works in MAME 140 and above and I am running 139, lol. Will update now and see if it works :)

Yeah, this is officially supported by MAME (http://maws.mameworld.info/maws/romset/dkongx) now, don't know if the D2K creators are cool with it or not :unsure

MAME classes this as a clone of Donkey Kong so you need both the dkongx.zip and dkong.zip in your ROMs directory to play.

Well the creators are probably in breach of copyright laws anyway for producing a game based on Nintendo characters without a license.

What are they going to do?

" Apparently " Nintendo approved it, he asked them if they wanted to release it officially, but they declined. Thats what i read about it anyway.
