I've decided that my Neo Geo CPO needs an overhaul. I've searched and couldn't find any LAI Neo Geo CPO anywhere, so tonight I thought whilst the control panel was apart that I'd have a quick attempt to see how good my vectoring skills were.

Now before I put in any more effort

Does anyone have one of these already completed? (I'm lazy)
Is it worth printing a replacement overlay ie. how much? (I'm tight) and where's the best place to get it done?

No not the 25" version of the cab, Savage made a 20" version awhile back but the button layout is more like the 6 slot which I'd like to do.

The consensus is that mamemarquees.com is the best/cheapest place to get repro work done. Will cost around $70 including postage from USA.

It's still a draft at the moment, I'll attach a copy of the final when I'm sure that all buttons/holes are in the correct spot.

I didn't vectorise the LAI logo I was hoping that someone had a copy of the logo that I could pinch

Which logo mate, the neo geo mvs one ? I should have it somewhere on the home pc if you need it.

I've grabbed copies of the MVS/NeoGeo logos elsewhere, its just the LAI logo. I quickly vectorised the Aussie part and fitted text to an arc, its just the family in the inside that I haven't done.

I printed out a copy of what I did today on works plotter and compared to the control panel. I have a few small changes to make until I'm satisfied that it will fit the control panel then I'll attach an AI or EPS of it here

That button layout is horrible.. Not sure why anyone would want that on their cab.

Probably hasnt got much choice considering thats the way it came from the manufacturer......keeping it standard

This is the one i've been working on, trying to make it similar to this one (http://www.hardmvs.com/xml/pacific/al2/al2b.jpg) but using the other button layout since i prefer that one. Unfortunately i don't have an original to go off to get the stripe sizes correct.

I finally finished up my replacement Neo Geo CPO. Despite the cries of the button layout being horrible, this is the same Neo that I put too many 20c pieces into when I was younger :badgrin

The mockups that I plotted at work line up with the original panel, so I'm happy.
As GIBO mentioned, I'm keeping it as it came from the manufacturer. Now I just need to find somewhere nice and cheap to get it printed :unsure

Well I finally got around to getting this printed. Found a mate of a mate who has his own printing business. Managed to get the CPO printed onto "Tuff-Cover". Not sure of the durability of the material, but it seems pretty strong.

Here is what it originally looked like in nice blurry vision.

CPO stripped back, rust removed and primed/converted

Here is the new CPO overlay on the tuff-cover

Near finished CPO

Also got some side stickers done. A little bigger than the original but should look a lot better than what is on there.

Colours have come out nicely, and the line work is sharp/crisp. I'm quite impressed how my complete lack of graphic design skills managed to turn out something pretty good.

Will need to hone my graphic design skills for my next ongoing project.. pinball playfield redesign

(picks up jaw, it appears to have hit the ground)

WOW.

If that "tuff-cover" is any good, I would be very interested in a 6 slot version.

Whaddaya think AK? Looks nice?
