View Full Version : Galaga CPO for LAI Cocktail

20th March 2008, 07:42 PM
Hi guys, this is a JPEG version of the player 1 CPO I've been working on for my dedicated LAI Galaga cocktail cab

I've been working on them in Photoshop and have basically finished. (The final version has just had the hole sizes reduced).

Today checked the print ship around the corner from work to see if they can do it in a self adhesive vinyl.

They can print it up no worries at all and at a reasonable price, but the quality won't be real flash apparently unless I can supply them the artwork as an "Outlined Vector Image" (not a rasterised vector).

Problem is I don't have Illustrator. I've tried Inkscape but can never get the results I'm after.

The print shop can convert it, but quoted $120 to do it.

Is there anyone out there who could help out one way or another? :please:

Are those holes in exactly the right place?

I can convert it.

The final version has the P1, P2 holes removed all together, and the other scaled back with a cross for where the hole centre is.

What file format do you need to do it? The .psd files are currenlty at 300 dpi and are around 5mb each.

Any help would be great Spacies

$120!! Thats cheap. I am double that and add a 1/3.

If the file size is 5mb then tell him he is talking shit and it will print fine.
I will convert them to vector though. No sweat mate.
I can add more to it if you want as well:

Up to you mate, but send me that file and also the exact measurements.

Trust me, the real one will look smicko when printed out. The hi res version is sweet.

I should get it printed, on the CP with wiring and buttons installed during the week.

:038:Big thanks to Spacies for fixing this up for me over Easter.

Yeah that pic above is 36kb so looks like ass.
Look forward to seeing them printed and on the cab.

No worries with the help. My pleasure.

Well my "reasonable price" from the printer turns out to be not (IMO) so reasonable.

The 1st mob wanted $165, the next I tried wanted $132.

Seems these guys charge by the square meter for the vinyl whether you use it all or not. (mine are only roughly 325mm x 125 mm)

Is this really what it costs to get 2 self adhesive CPO's printed????

I would have expected it to waaaayyyy less than this, am I being unreasonable?

I'm waiting for a 3rd quote :(

What was the final quote you got?

and how did you trim the corners? Just do it by hand?

Think I paid $50 from Snap Printing

Corners where trimmed using a scrap booking corner rounding thingy (wive's are handy for some geeky arcade stuff)

Nice. Does it have that 'textured' feel?

Cool. That's what I had on my last CPO I made for my TMNT (containing Neo Geo). Had forgotten what it was called.

What do you guys prefer? Glossy or matte CPOs?

i like the sandex as a CP. i havent tested it yet but i know there both the same size

these were 485x85mm and cost me 6.50 each posted

so i reckon a CP shouldnt be to much more i dare say taking a punt
