Busted CRT in OkBaby Machine

zerochad

Question

Hi all,

So I'm about to drop some cash on an OkBaby Candy Cab, problem is monitor is busted.

Apparently it was replaced with a new fuse etc when it went out around a month ago but it looks like something happen and its out again.

I know its vague but would anyone have any idea what the root cause would be?

And would anyone know of any arcade specialists / CRT in the Sydney area that would be able to help fix it (at a fee of course) if it came to that?

Thanks again!

If it's blowing a fuse on the chassis it could be literally any number of issues. OK Baby cabinets are Chinese candy clones and most Chinese clones have really shitty chassis powering the tubes. Without pulling the chassis and sending it to an expert, the root cause is unknowable, although experts could make educated guesses if you give them more info. Things like the chassis model number and the fuse that is blowing would be a good place to start to help in the diagnosis.

As for monitor techs, most of us pull the chassis and send it to Jomac in Perth. He only needs the chassis, not the tube.

For future info I read your post as "tube is broken" - might be better to word your posts a little better in future so it is clearer.

Oh - also, if the monitor isn't working that reduces the value of the machine to a few hundred dollars at best so I wouldn't pay over the odds for it.

Thanks both Homepin and namastepat! I think I'm going to skip on it now, there is too many variables about what it could be, so it could be a massive money sink. The asking price is 800 bucks. Fully converted from JAMMA to mame, working coin mech, all good aside from the monitor.
