A few years ago I went to buy an eight track and brought this home too.

It has severe water damage across the top and bottom. Marquee is totalled.

Don't expect a restore thread just yet, I stripped the machine to assess the woodwork while waiting parts for another.

It is complete and the internals are in really good condition.

The cabinet has laminex sides in reasonable condition and the ply centre of the sides is ok. RHS is good except at the top and the LHS, top and bottom. I will try to replace those in sections. The laminex will add strength. A pity about the backglass. Seller said it was ok when he put it under a tarp..in the backyard. Maybe I can trace the artwork, not sure yet.

I haven't had it running yet,I will check all mechs before refitting.

Woodwork, especially cabinetmaking, is not a strong point, however I have started on the cabinet.

I will only partially replase the topsides, hopefully rebating new pieces in.

I have managed to cut the blanks without cutting on the wrong side of the blade.

I bought a router, having only seen one from afar. Thes things have some sort of torquesteer but getting used to it carving up waste bits.

Managed to tame the router for the rebates - Unfortunately after I attempted the handholds. The router tends to zoom off at a hundred MPH when reaching the end of the run between the two holesaw cuts thus leaving a big gouge at the other end. Also finding this locking lever thingo after...Handholds not shown.....

I will post more pics soon.

Bottom right

Cabinet repaired and mechanism fitted. Unfortunately the sides were worse than first thought. Pulling the bow in at the top caused the sides to bow out elsewhere. I used a brace at the top right to straighten it a little.

Still turned out reasonably well. Perhaps for a concourse restoration, soaking the sides in someone's pool for a week may have removed the laminex fron the old ply although the Laminex is a little faded and damaged.

Front glass (marquee?) needs a lot of work. Not sure how to go about this, perhaps try glass paint or similar. The red is the worst and most prevalent.

All working, just need a couple of UV tubes. I will post a video of it working when it is easier to see the cars.
