The Addams Family restoration

Recommended Posts

Quick update.

Decals applied. New glass tracks and new side rails fitted.

Head box and wiring harness installed.

Homie leg protectors.

Not happy with my painted finish on the coin door, to the point I'm not even going to show a picture!! Redoing it.

My back hurts and got to go out tonight - time for a beer.

  • 3 weeks later...

Machine is up and running.

Re painted the coin door and now far better. I had tried the splatter effect using a brush and no go. Went back to the spray can with the tip removed.

Been playing and tuning today. Things like switch adjustments and one where the ball was sitting in the bottom of the Thing can and not being ejected.

Used the iPhone on video record to follow Things hand and see where the ball was stopping. Seems there was a dent or low point stopping the ball from rolling.

A little bend here and a few taps from a hammer and all sorted.

I'll move the machine inside for plenty of testing ie playing.

A few pictures from the phone before I take it for the SLR shoot.

Got around to using the SLR to take the finished shots of TAF.

Pictures hot off the camera.

Game is finished, and playing really well. No doubt there will be fine tunings still required, but overall very happy with the result.

One final repair log, it wasn't until I began playing, it became apparent a problem on the sound board. Audio during multi-ball and high demand was breaking up audio and popping.

This is a common problem and details of repairs are on many repair sites. I had the same issue on my T2 restore.

Replaced caps c20 c23 c26 c46 and c47 along with a new amp chip and bingo audio is now crisp and sharp.

Now a few photos!!

Thank you for the kind words.

Most likely this will be sold. My wife wasn't a fan of the unrestored game but seems to be showing interest now... Typical!!

Lots of hours, started back in June. I find I usually turn a machine around in 4 months, this time 5. I don't rush, just take my time and do it right.

Nice work. Looks great and no doubt your enjoying playing it.

Your not going to bother putting the screen printed warning on the back of the head box?

Cheers mate. I do have the warning as a decal but I think it will look ordinary and not do the machine justice.

I would love a screen printing setup - Hot rodded pins with his logo does it well[emoji106]
