Lord-Data
I've had the parts for this one for a while, finally started to build her up. 14" cabaret style cabinet, wood grain and physically solid cabinet. Mitsubishi 14" CRT, Jomac chassis. Arkanoid pcb. Work so far: Basic cleanup and stripping of cabinet Wiring in 240 (basic screw terminal, no switches yet) Psu and chassis wires Jamma harness beginnings, connected power and video Games up and running. Nice picture. Not bad for a bit of work this arvo. Todo: Wire up spinner Finish jamma wiring (coins, audio, start and shoot buttons) Find a way to backlight marquee, normal 18w Fluro won't fit! Hopefully better 240v distribution with fuse, switch and filter Strip and replace the control panel Add artwork for marquee, bezel and cpo Also, finally got my AC installed in my shed :)

Lord-Data
Actually @narf_, quick question, did yours gave a backlight for the marquee? If so, what kinda bulb/tube was it to fit that space?
ozfalcon
Have you considered a 12v LED strip instead of a fluro for the marquee? Can you do a front shot of the cab, Would like to see it.
Lord-Data
I actually hadn't thought about that. Previously the machine used an unlit marquee. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/02/01/u7y3u8em.jpg That's the front view. I'll have to check my junk piles. I may even have some white led blocks (4 Smd LEDs per block) I could use!
Lord-Data
Note: I know the screen is the wrong orientation for arkanoid. Didn't realise until I powered it up! Will be rotating the screen tomorrow :)

ozfalcon
Certainly a beaten up old control panel and has seen a great deal of varied use. Whats going on up in the marquee? Is that a panel or perspex in there. And whats that tube looking thing at the bottom of the marquee. Is that an Able amusments sticker on the marquee or am I imagining that. Should look good with some TLC.

And yes, that's an able amusement sticker. Who were they? The tube thing is a piece of rounded timber, holds the marquee in at the bottom.

I think @illawarra_steelers was looking for Able Amusments memorabilia. For the Marquee, What about cutting out that backboard so it's just an edging or replace it with some pieces of timber to get the strength for the top box & stop the perspex falling back in. Then you can put a decent light in the top box (Not too close to burn/score the marquee). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ADDED Another thought! Just mount 5 or 6 multicoloured smd mount leds directly behind the marquee (on the backboard) and have the colours flash through the marquee like a Christmas tree. Lord-Data
I think I'll stick with White LEDs, or maybe even a pair of ccfl bulbs would work actually.. Got a bunch spare.. The board could be replaced by a pair of Perspex I think, sandwich the marquee between them. That's the plan anyway :)
