chopchop
A word of thanks not only to the organizers, but also to all the players-every single competitor made Emily feel included and she had a ball both days. Pinballers are a great bunch of people and look forward to catching up with you all again soon. Now, off to Pinburgh ! Lambo
(Sorry, lost post ahead!) LADIES & GENTLEMEN: On behalf of Jimmy & I, we would like to thank each and every single one of you who played a part in the 2017 Brisbane Masters weekend. We had around 100 different people participate in at least 1 of 4 different events this past few days, making this one of, if not the BIGGEST pinball event in the Australian calendar in recent memory. We had players travel in from NSW, VIC, SA and Central QLD, all with various pinball tournament experience. For those who experienced an event like this for the first time, we hope you enjoyed yourselves and we didn't disappoint. The weekend went off nearly without a hitch. As with every event, we get to learn a little more to help make things bigger, better & easier for all. Every event ran smoothly and on time, which is a credit to all of you. Scores were submitted promptly, players got to their allocated machine without too much delay, (and also arrived for the start on time!) and some even assisted with entering scores along the way. What can I say about the venue (THE MILL). WOW!! Simply fantastic and an absolute breeze to work with the staff. When I first saw the venue about 6 weeks ago, I was concerned about space, but once the machines went into place, all our concerns simply disappeared. Sure there were a few people being bumped while playing at times, and sometimes it was a little hectic trying to get to a machine, but I couldn't have thought of a better venue. Great food, great beer, great staff. Many thanks to Gerard, Jill, Ben & others for their wonderful hospitality all weekend long, even more so for opening well outside their normal trading hours just for us! :) To the machine providers... What I can say folks. Without these generous people allowing us to borrow their machines for a huge weekend like this - there simply is no Brisbane Masters. I have seen a comment already saying that some of these machines have had up to a year's worth of games played on their machine in just the 1 weekend. All machines held up exceptionally well all weekend long. Thank you, thank you, thank you for being such amazing people: * Netherworld (Frankenstein, TFTC, Batman '66) * Hugh Dickson (Spiderman VE, BOP, Trident) * Nicolas Noben (Star Trek) * Thibaut Allender (Party Zone) * Ray Scott (Cyclone, Dr. Who) * Russell Dagger (Road Show, Time Warp) * Travis Bishop (Whirlwind, Meteor) * David James (TX Sector, Space Invaders, TWD) * Bruce @ AMD (Star Wars) * Grant Quinn (Grand Lizard) * Mitchell Setschnjak (CFTBL, Pinball Champ) * Chris Eccles (Metallica Prem) * Mitch Wilkins (Judge Dredd) * Nathan Brant (WPT) To everyone who helped out with delivering and moving machines, servicing and levelling machines, scoring and anything I can't think of - you guys are all legends!! There were so many people who chipped in at various stages of the weekend that made our work so much easier. There's so many people to name here that I will no doubt forget someone - you all know who you are and we are all very grateful for all the work and effort you provided to make this event such a success! One person in particular I would like to thank is Scott Barber (a.k.a. Barbz) for the amazing Flip Frenzy software! After seeing a snippet of it at the last Frenzy event at Netherworld, I thought he was on to something special :) Thank you for giving up a few hours each night to record the scores and show off that amazing program you have created there!! It was truly appreciated by all. To my offsider/fellow TD/mate Jimmy Nails. This was originally your brain child back in 2015 and here we are in 2017 with possibly the most successful pinball weekend ever! You are an absolute pleasure to work with mate. Organising the Brisbane Masters can be a lot of hard work, but working together with one the best TDs in the country makes it seem so easy. It is so easy to bounce ideas off each other to make things work. I think we've nearly got it 100% right Jimmy! Thanks heaps mate :) Last of all, again I want to thank all of the players. I know I have done and said it already, but you guys are really what makes the Brisbane Masters such an amazing event! The best part of the past weekend was being able to catch up with so many people I haven't seen in such a long time, but also getting to meet new people and make new friends. And that to me is what not just competitive pinball, but the pinball community in general is all about. I had an absolute blast all weekend long, and it was a shame to end really. You guys all ROCK! and thank you for making it a weekend I will never ever forget. As previously mentioned, the Brisbane Masters will return again next year in 2018. We are already looking to make this event even bigger and we hope to see you all there! This year's results are just about ready to submit to Luke/Dan (just waiting for the IFPA site to work again) and I eagerly await to see what IFPA points everyone will get. In the meantime, hope everyone has enjoyed the 2017 Brisbane Masters, had a safe trip back home, and see you again soon! I will be posting the results being submitted for everyone to see soon-ish. Cheers, Jason Lambert (Lambo)
rusty_dagger
Awesome event. Awesome time. Almost perfect weekend. I would like to say thanks to @zanderzone from myself and a couple of the other machine suppliers. He was picking up and dropping off machines all week and still doing so. It is really appreciated and encourages people to donate machines. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I watched the Matchplay with interest and hopefully will join in again next year. :D
Jimmy Nails
Thanks Lambo. Another amazing weekend. Everything running on time is a testament to your organisation and setting up of machines. As brutal as some may seem, when everything runs on time and we are not playing through the night it all makes a hell of a lot of sense. Was an absolute joy it was to share the Mill with such a massive bunch of legends for three straight days. You guys rock. Thanks to everyone who helped out in big or small ways. Too many people to mention but every little piece of help meant the world and made a massive event run as smooth as silk (share a thought for Dave/ZanderZone who will be delivering the last of the machines tonight. He has done the bulk of the work load. Thanks heaps mate) Can't wait to do it all again next year. 120+ players next year?!?!? :) Also I am doing another short run of t-shirts as a few people missed out. PM me if you would like another. $20 each

capsule
Thanks @Lambo but there's something wrong in the 3 strikes, no 5th position for example :-) Then 3 players at position 10 but jump straight to 15th after them? I reckon that should be the exact same results as match play's?

I reckon that should be the exact same results as match play's? I have reported it here exactly how it will appear on the IFPA rankings for each event. eg. There are 4 players who finished equal 5th in the 3 Strikes, but their average placing will be 6th.

Lambo
Out of curiosity, why is this happening once posted to IFPA? Sent from my iPhone using Aussie Arcade Again, using the 3 Strikes as an example, there are 4 players who finish in equal 5th, filling out positions 5-8. The points that would be allocated to those positions are added together and averaged out to what would be around 6th place. All players then receive the same points as each other as they should for finishing in the same spot.
Dedrok
Yeah Ifpa has always averaged out the position. So instead of 5 people tied after 4th being equal 5th (5,6,7,8,9) , IFpa average the placings as well as all those points. In this example it would be equal 7th. GEE
Arrived home from the Masters early yesterday and was too ill to make it to my local Pinball HQ Flip Frenzy lol. I busted the screen on my laptop just before I left for Brissy, and am using my old laptop to post this, so I'll make a quick shout before she crashes. Best wishes to Peter Watt through a bout of ill health. Pinny comps in SEQ aren't the same without you and your Family. Hope to see you back on top of things soon. More to come when I can get to a net cafe or jag an unwanted laptop. Cheers, G

gomeroz
Funnily enough the last Brisbane Pinball Club results (from the Tuesday before the Masters) are not up yet :-) I noticed that too. I had 7 matches to go up. Had 5 posted and now still need 3. (Had the Coogee Frenzy) I hadn't realised the US guys did something after the local lads. So that's good to know. There are a few comps coming up in a short space of time so I would suspect it will be in catch up mode until the pace slows down Will Sent from my iPhone using Aussie Arcade
