Trying a new encoder

Yeah it wouldn't have killed them to put screw terminals in... surely you're looking a cents (not dollars) to add that in manufacturing.

 

The trackball support is novel, but these days (for PC based arcade machines) why not just route the mouse/spinner/trackball via a USB port (using a $2 PS2 to USB converter plug)?

Because this will allow to connect a generic arcade trackball no problem no hacks ect

You know that Ultimarc's minipac also has integrated Trackball support. And for less money ;) and no soldering.

Yeah i had seen them but didnt know they supported trackball to

I still like the idea of soldering the connector though and if i was to order a mini pac with cableing im up for the same $$$$$$$$$$
