Confused- Photoshop

Wotto

Recommended Posts

OK Ok - I know it is meant to be opened in Illustrator or similar but at the moment I only have Photoshop available.

I download the DK Jnr side art from Local arcade.

The thumbnail image that sits in my folder after download is of the whole piece of art.

When I open it in P'shop I get this and ONLY this section of the whole piece.

I can open many many ( Ai? ) files from Local Arcade and they give me the WHOLE image in Photoshop. But a few ( like this example , only give me a tiny section of it.

I have downloaded this from 3 seperate PC's - ALL get the same result.

Cheers if you can help.

Wouldn't you just have to change the Canvas size?

Click 'Image' at the top. Then click 'Canvas Size' and change to a bigger size to see all the picture. (Or ctrl+alt+c)

As Hamish said, make your Canvas (in Illustrator it is called 'Page Size') the size of the art you want. Then press ctrl+t to transform the art. Or goto 'Image', 'Transform'. Grab the corners and reduce the size.

Yep I've found that a lot of those AI's on Local Arcade have been done without PDF compatibility so this happens.

The Galaga marquee is the same.

Incidentally, did you know the acrobat Reader 8 and onwards can open and view AIs that have been saved with PDF compatibility(default setting)?

Hi......stupid here again.

OK - I am using Photoshop as Illustrator ( 8 ) wont open these files.

I can increase the canvas size and I just end up with a lot more 'surround' ( empty surround ) and the same tiny section of the image.
