adding leds into buttons

looking at the possiblilty of adding led into some clear topped mca buttons ive got.

the plan was to insert a logo inside of a arcade character (pacman ect) on each button and light them up with these. I have the idea of drilling a small hole in the bottom and popping in the led and then probably a small blob of glue to hold them in place. the buttons aint clear on the outside so the light should just show on the logo

thinking about popping these in and power from a pc power supply

just a idea that came to mind as im already thinking logos and i reckon rgb would be nice.

That is not too bad a price for those LEDs at all.

Just remember though, they will get out of sync pretty soon after powering up as they all individually work at slightly different speeds. Might be fine for what you are doing, but just thought I'd let you know.

Not sure on the MCA buttons but if they are like a normal arcade button I don't think you can insert icons/whatever inside them :unsure

I can tell you that a pulsating colour changing button will certainly be inviting - just try not to press that button! :)

was thinking all 12 buttons actually. be really funky all going at once while idling. the out of sync doesnt really both me as i aint looking at buttons while playing and that price i dont mind it

the buttons i got are regular arcade buttons but the middle part is clear and removable so a insert can be put inside

Interesting! I had a look on google but couldn't find any pictures of them. They sound like they could be useful...

Well, around $10 is not much of a gamble. From what I have seen some of the buttons already may have a good spot for an LED to go. Some super clear epoxy would be the way to go. Maybe just try some hotglue first to see if you like it (and get the location right) as you can peel it off if you're not happy.

Cheers
