Using an arcade monitor on a pc

opm881

Question

Ok, so after opening up the pc monitor i was going to use and finding out that the wires that attach the chassie pcb and the chassie and tube itself are short as all hell, and the difficulty discovered to do with the heigh of the monitor mounting screws, i have decided i will probably just use the arcade monitor that came with it aslong as its still working.

So, i ask the question, what is the cheapest way to hook up a computer to an arcade monitor?

lol. Ok, so in other words im gonna need to have an arcade vga. Is there a way to tell what hz a graphics card puts out?

Nevermind. I just looked up all modes the graphics card in my mame comp is possible of doing, it can do minimum 56hz at 800x600 or 800x600 16 colours at default refresh so not really good colours for an arcade set up. Gah, guess ill try and figure out a way to mount this dam computer monitor, only problem is, if i somehow manage to keep the back of the case on(even though there are no screws that would hold it in place and the part that holds the motherboard is in the front half) it probably wont even fit the whole case -_-

hey mate I've got GeForce card here that I used to use to get 15khz in my mame machine, I actually had an easier time getting it to work than i did when i got an AVGA for my newer cab.

chuck us a PM if you're keen.

yea, got a shelf system figured out for the motherboard and how im gonna mount the monitor as the original monitor's holding parts were higher then the monitors. Just gonna try some diagonal pieces of mdf from some off cuts i have, but if that dont work just gonna go get some ply and cut a new mount to place over the other one

People are too keen to spend lots of money on an ArcadeVGA card when a cheaper card can do the same job with a little more work. I used a GeForce 256 card and with a J-Pac it worked brilliantly.
