More SNES shenanigans!

Recommended Posts

Most of you know that I have two TANK's and a modified snes, seeing as I've told you before - some of you also know I bought an NTSC snes for $5, swapped its motherboard with a pal snes and re-sold the ntsc one for $70 - of course it wasn't as simple as swapping two motherboards around, noting ever is, I suppose I can explain that now. The insides of both the PAL and NTSC snes are very, very similar - but not so similar you can just drop the motherboard in there. The PAL case required extensive work to modify it so it would fit the NTSC motherboard, this included sanding down the part where the power & av cables attach to. I don't recall any serious problem putting the NTSC case in the PAL one though.

What you may not know, though, is that I once got an NTSC SNES controller (not the one with the NTSC snes, a different one) that had been "repaired" by removing its original board and replacing it with one out of a 3rd-party controller - so what did I do? I took it out and put it in a PAL controller I pawned on ebay, and put the PAL one into the NTSC controller - and I had to sand away at certain parts of it to make it fit! LOL! And all so just I could have a real Nintendo board in it!

Here's a photo of all my snes controllers:

So now you know why I bought Super SmartJoys and the RetroZone's SNES-to-GC converters (which they now call SNES-to-Wii).

Right now, my controller of choice for my ROMS on the Wii DVD-R is Nintendo's NTSC one!
