LAI Galaxian/Ghost muncher help needed.

Question

I'm having a look at a few boards for burra one of which is a Galaxian/ghost muncher bootleg made my LAI. some pretty funky hack.

Anyhoo got the board booting up I noticed there is 3 prong a plug in which I discovered must have been connected to a switch to change between games (bank switching). While I have Galaxian side of things running when i switch to ghost muncher all i get is garbage and she wont budge.

Tried all the usual stuff, just wondering if somebody has the same 2 layer PCB and could take some pics for me.

there a socket with no chip in it at 8J? anything suppose to go in there?

LAI made a few of these two-in-one "hacks". As well as Galaxian/Ghost Muncher, there was also Ghost Muncher/Uniwars (I had one of these, have since sold it) and Galaxian/Moon Cresta (still have this, w00t!).

From memory the switching is simply a ROM bank switch, so it's possible that you've got a dodgy ROM chip. Carefully remove each ROM and make sure the legs are straight and clean. If they're not clean, clean the legs with an eraser.

Another possibility is that the ROM daughter board isn't getting quite enough current. With the machine running, measure the voltages on the daughter board, make sure you have a nice healthy +5V. If not, consider running another pair of +5V/GND lines from the harness straight to the daughter board, this fixed a similar problem that I had with mine.
